The archival canvas print shows the same image, printed rather than painted, so its surface is flat. Both versions come rolled, on a wooden stretcher, or framed.

The scene is a Saigon colonial view reduced to a few large shapes. A square cream tower stands right of centre, topped with a pyramid roof in terracotta red. One tall arched window with white grid panes sits in its upper half, and a narrow band of shadow runs down its left side.
To the left, a low arcade runs to the edge of the canvas. Its rounded arches frame recesses in sage green. In front, a pale plaza slopes in a diagonal, and a low wall closes the lower right corner beside a strip of green horizon.
The paint is laid on smooth and thin. The sky is an even pale grey-blue with barely a visible stroke, while the walls carry faint shifts between cream, sand and pale peach. The roof is the only strong warm accent, and the sage green of the arches repeats at the right horizon.
More than half of the canvas is open sky, which gives the tower room and keeps the picture still. No figures appear. The tall vertical tower against the long horizontal arcade makes the portrait format feel balanced rather than crowded.
The muted palette of cream, grey-blue and sage suits bedrooms, studies and light hallways where a loud picture would tire the eye. The terracotta roof gives a small warm point that works with wood, linen or neutral paint. Its tall shape also suits a slim stretch of wall, such as the gap beside a doorway.
It is a tall arched window with a white grid of panes, set in the upper half of the cream tower and framed by a slightly recessed arch.
No. The plaza, arcade and tower are empty, which adds to the still, quiet mood of the scene.
The pyramid roof is terracotta red. It is the strongest warm note against the pale sky and cream walls, so the eye goes to it first.
Yes. These soft tones suit calm rooms such as bedrooms, studies and bright hallways, and the tall portrait format fits a narrow wall.
