The archival canvas print shows the same image, printed rather than painted, so its surface is flat. Both versions come rolled, on a wooden stretcher, or framed.

The street runs deep into the picture between tall, worn houses in ochre yellow. Wooden balconies, shutters and dark doorways line both sides, and the plaster looks aged and patchy. Above them the sky is a soft slate grey that fades into mist.
A figure with an open umbrella walks along the wet road. The surface shines with reflections, and loose, visible brushstrokes turn the puddles into streaks of grey, brown and pale light.
Far down the street a lit doorway glows in warm amber, with a few tiny lights around it. It is the one bright spot in a scene of ochre and slate grey, so the eye travels down the wet road to it.
The mood is quiet and damp, with the figure and the umbrella alone between the ochre walls, and no crowd and no clutter.
The ochre house walls and slate grey sky suit a cream, warm white or soft grey wall, where the amber glow of the doorway stands out. It fits a living room or a hallway where you want a muted, moody picture.
The tall upright format follows the long wet road, which makes it a good match for a slim stretch of wall or beside a doorway.
The figure is small and dressed in dark tones under an open umbrella, so it reads as a quiet silhouette on the road rather than a detailed portrait. It gives the street a sense of scale.
It is a soft amber glow, warm but small. The surrounding greys keep it from dominating, so it works as a gentle focal point at the end of the street.
They are loose. The wet road breaks into streaks of grey, brown and pale light, with a few amber touches picked up from the doorway, so it feels like rain rather than a mirror.
The balconies, shutters and doorways are clear enough to read, while the walls stay weathered and softly worked. Houses farther away fade into the grey mist.
