The archival canvas print shows the same image, printed rather than painted, so its surface is flat. Both versions come rolled, on a wooden stretcher, or framed.

Vendors pause beside a grey kerb, and the vendors carry shoulder poles with round woven baskets hanging from them. Pale straw conical hats catch the light. The baskets hold yellow and red goods, small bright spots against the wall behind.
The wall fills almost the whole picture. It is golden yellow, streaked with darker olive and patched where the plaster has flaked, and the brushstrokes look loose and visible, so the surface reads as worn and warm.
The clothing is where the colour changes. One figure wears a purple jacket, another a green one, and a third a soft pink-lilac one. Some of the trousers are patterned too, in blue and yellow-green florals. These notes keep the yellow from feeling flat.
The ground is a quiet grey, so attention stays on the hats, the jackets and the baskets.
The golden yellow wall suits a room with warm white or soft cream walls, where the gold becomes the main colour. An entrance hall or a dining area works well, since the square format gives the figures and baskets room without crowding.
Purple and green are the main cool notes, so a cushion or a plant in those shades would tie the room to the picture.
The conical hats and round baskets are shaped with loose strokes rather than fine lines. You see pale straw tones, woven rims and the cords that hold the baskets to the poles, but not individual fibres.
Faces are small and softly painted. Two faces are visible under the hat brims, and the third figure is seen in profile with the face mostly hidden.
Yes. Purple and green jackets, floral trousers and small red touches in the baskets sit beside the gold. The street and kerb are a muted grey.
The wall is shown with flaking patches and darker olive streaks running down through the yellow. The marks are painted loosely, so they read as age, not as detail to be examined closely.
