The archival canvas print shows the same image, printed rather than painted, so its surface is flat. Both versions come rolled, on a wooden stretcher, or framed.

The steel trusses of the bridge are the strongest shape here, a lattice of rust-brown beams that crosses the picture and darkens against the haze. Behind them, tall pale towers fade into soft grey-blue, and a low round sun glows in the peach sky with an orange halo around it.
A stone pier rises from the water below the bridge, with green trees along the bank behind it. Tiny figures can be made out along the bridge deck, which gives the steel its scale.
The river is the loosest part of the picture. Short, visible brushstrokes of orange, cream, white and blue lie side by side and read as sunset light breaking on moving water. The sky and towers above are smoother, so the eye moves from calm haze to sparkling surface.
The peach sky and rust-brown bridge sit well in a living room painted cream, off-white or pale grey, where the orange of the water can be echoed by a wooden shelf or a few cushions. The upright format also fits a narrow stretch of wall beside a door, and the grey-blue towers keep the warm colours from feeling heavy.
The beams of the bridge are drawn with clear, firm lines so the crossing steel is easy to follow. The looseness is kept for the water, where the brushstrokes stay broad and visible.
They are tiny marks of colour along the bridge deck rather than detailed portraits. They are easy to miss at first glance, and they give the steel a sense of scale.
Tall, pale towers rise in the haze, painted in soft grey-blue so they stay quiet. A round sun with an orange glow sits beside them and is the brightest spot in the sky.
Only a band of green trees along the bank, between the stone pier and the bridge deck. It is a small cool break in an otherwise warm palette of rust, peach and orange.
