About this painting

The story behind this artwork.

A glazed pork chop and bright egg yolk

The plate is the clear centre of attention: a grilled pork chop with dark, caramelised edges, a fried egg with a glowing yellow yolk, and a mound of white rice. Strips of orange carrot and green vegetable add small, fresh notes beside the meat.

Beside the plate, a teal enamel mug and a bowl of broth with steam rising keep the table lively. A wooden holder with chopsticks and a spoon stands behind them.

Warm wood against teal and street haze

The table is painted in warm wood browns with soft purple shadows. Behind it the street turns hazy, with parked motorbikes and a teal awning painted loosely so that the food stays sharp. The loose, visible brushstrokes keep the light warm and bright.

The teal of the mug and awning answers the yolk yellow and the wood brown, so the colours feel balanced rather than loud.

FAQ

Is the steam from the bowl visible?

Yes. Pale wisps of steam rise from the bowl against the darker table, painted softly so they read clearly without crowding the plate.

Are the motorbikes in the street painted in detail?

They are loosely handled. Their shapes, glints of grey and teal bodies are easy to recognise, but they stay softer than the plate so the food leads.

Which colour stands out most besides the food?

The teal. It appears in the enamel mug and the awning, giving a cool contrast to the yolk yellow and the warm browns of the table.

Is the painting mostly warm or cool in tone?

Mostly warm. Wood brown, golden light and the egg yolk dominate, with teal and soft violet shadows as the only cooler notes.
