Pink lotus on quiet ponds, bougainvillea over a golden Hoi An wall, hydrangeas and cherry blossom in Da Lat, and wild sunflowers on a hillside path fill these flower and botanical paintings of Vietnam. Every image can be ordered hand-painted in oil or printed on archival canvas.
Lotus on still water
One painting shows a single open pink lotus low on the right of a square canvas, answered by a sage green leaf and a small bud on the left, all above cream and peach water in soft, flat strokes. In another, pink lotus buds rise on thin stems from a hazy pond, and dragonflies with clear wings hover near one bud. Sage green, cream and pale blue keep that scene quiet. Both pictures, which also hang in Lotus, are made of pale tones that sit easily on a white or light grey wall.
Hydrangeas, cherry blossom and sunflowers in Da Lat
In one square impasto canvas, hydrangeas in blue and lilac take the right side, and a sandy path runs past red and orange beds toward greenhouses. Another has a pink blossom tree across the upper left, with a garden path running to an ochre villa with green shutters. A third shows wild sunflowers in yellow on a misty hillside, a dirt path leading a small figure in a conical hat toward a pale golden glow. These three, which also hang in Da Lat, bring blue, pink and yellow to a wall in turn.
Magenta over yellow in Hoi An
Magenta bougainvillea spills over a golden yellow wall in the Hoi An canvas, while sellers below work among heaps of yellow flowers and green vegetables laid out on the ground. The yellow and magenta are strong, and they sit well beside neutral furniture or a plain white wall.
